With heavy hearts, the family of Tom Joss announce his passing, age 68, on Friday, October 21st , 2022.
Tom was born on August 12, 1954 in Port Arthur, Ontario, the oldest and only son of William (Bill) & Vivian Joss of Thunder Bay. Tom attended school in Thunder Bay and went on to learn small motor mechanics which eventually led to a salesman position selling industrial parts in Winnipeg.
Tom married Jane Flaherty (divorced) and they had four wonderful boys, Tom’s greatest pride and joy. Michael (Karine), Matthew (Kelsey), his granddaughters Charlize and Clara, Christopher (Kassandra), Stephen (April) and their daughter Paige. He loved to watch them grow into men and start families of their own. He taught them the love of hunting, fishing, the great outdoors and all things nature.
Tom loved music. As a young man in the early 70’s, with long hair and bellbottom pants, Tom sang and played bass in a local band called “Stryder”. The young rockers drove to local gigs in a school bus painted black enjoying the local music scene and the excitement that comes with it.
He was an avid sports fan never to miss a Bomber’s or Jets game. Hockey, football, golf; he was passionate about them all.
Tom is survived by his boys and their families, mom Vivian Joss, sisters Karen Marsh (Jim), Cathy McKibbon (Clayton) and Leah Wegher (Dennis), brothers-in-law Terry Flaherty (Shirley), Dave Flaherty (Gina), Tim Flaherty of Ottawa, and many nieces and nephews in Thunder Bay. He is predeceased by his father Bill in January of this year.
Cremation has taken place and a family celebration will take place at a later date at his favorite hunting and fishing grounds at East Arrow Lake, Ontario.
